Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ClawCloud.

Getting started

What is ClawCloud?

ClawCloud is a managed hosting platform for OpenClaw, an open-source AI assistant. We handle the server, installation, configuration, and updates so you can deploy your own AI assistant in under a minute — no terminal, no DevOps.

How long does deployment take?

Under a minute. Pick your AI model, connect a messaging channel, and click Deploy. Your dedicated server is provisioned and configured automatically.

Do I need technical skills?

No. The deploy wizard handles everything. If you can create a Telegram, Discord, or Feishu bot (which takes about 2 minutes), you can deploy on ClawCloud.

API keys & models

Do I need my own API keys?

No. Add the managed AI credits addon and start immediately — no API key required. If you prefer to use your own key from OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google, you can use bring-your-own-key (BYOK) mode instead.

Which AI models are supported?

94 curated quality models across 17+ providers — including Claude (Anthropic), GPT (OpenAI), Gemini (Google), DeepSeek, Mistral, Llama, Grok, Qwen, and more. Every instance gets the full model list regardless of whether you use the managed credits addon or bring your own API key. You can switch models anytime from your dashboard.

How much do AI API calls cost?

If you add the managed AI credits addon, your instance gets a monthly credit pool that covers typical usage. Credits reset each billing cycle. You can also buy credit top-ups at any time — top-ups carry over and never expire. If you bring your own API key (BYOK), usage is billed directly by your provider.

Channels & features

What messaging channels are supported?

Telegram, Discord, and Feishu are available on all plans. Additional channels are in development.

Can I connect multiple channels?

Your OpenClaw instance can connect to multiple channels. Configuration is done through the dashboard after deployment.

Can I SSH into my server?

Yes, on all plans. You get full SSH access to your dedicated VM. Add your SSH public key in your dashboard settings.

Pricing & billing

What's included in the monthly price?

A dedicated virtual machine running your OpenClaw instance 24/7, automatic updates, server maintenance, backups, and support. AI credits are available as an optional addon with monthly credit pools. You can also bring your own API key.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. No contracts, no cancellation fees. Cancel from your dashboard and your subscription ends at the end of the billing period.

Is there a free trial?

Not currently. You can add the managed AI credits addon to start using your assistant immediately without a separate API key, or bring your own key.

How does pricing compare to self-hosting?

Self-hosting requires provisioning a server, installing Node.js, configuring OpenClaw, setting up SSL, and managing updates — typically 45+ minutes of terminal work. ClawCloud starts at $29/month and does all of that in under a minute. See the full comparison. See comparison →

What happens when I run out of AI credits?

Your bot stops responding once credits are exhausted. The dashboard shows an exhaustion warning and links to a quick guide for switching to a free model manually. Free models keep the bot running, but quality and speed are lower than paid models. Credits reset at the start of the next billing cycle, and you can also buy a credit top-up at any time — top-ups carry over and don't expire.

Can I buy more AI credits?

Yes. Credit top-ups are one-time purchases available from your dashboard. Three packs: $6 (500 credits), $12 (1,000 credits), and $30 (2,500 credits). Top-up credits carry over until used and never expire — they are not reset on billing renewal. Your monthly included credits are consumed first, then top-ups.

Security & privacy

Is my data secure?

Each ClawCloud instance runs on a dedicated virtual machine — your data is isolated from other users. API keys are stored securely on your server and never transmitted to ClawCloud's systems.

Where are servers located?

Servers are hosted in the NYC1 region on dedicated infrastructure. Additional regions may be available in the future.
